Duchy Originals is one of the UK's leading brands of organic food and drink. When the Prince of Wales created Duchy Originals in 1992 it was because of his belief in the clear advantages of sustainable farming: the production of natural and healthy foods and sound husbandry which helps to regenerate and protect the countryside. Profits from sales of Duchy Originals products are donated to The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation, which has to date (September 2004) raised more than £3.5 million.

The name Duchy Originals comes from the Duchy of Cornwall estates which are held in trust by The Prince of Wales who, as heir to the throne, also holds the title Duke of Cornwall. Each product is original as it combines top quality traditions with deliciously different flavours.

The brand now produces over 130 different product lines, all made in the UK in partnership with some of the country's best food manufacturers. Many of the ingredients come from the Home Farm at Highgrove & most of the Duchy Originals product range is organic and certified by the UK's leading organic body, The Soil Association. The Prince of Wales is its patron.

Wychwood was delighted to be chosen to brew an Ale for the Duchy Originals brand. Duchy Originals Organic Ale is the first beer in the acclaimed Duchy Originals organic food and drink range, and proudly carries the Soil Association Seal. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince's Home Farm at Highgrove.

The Duchy range of ales now includes; Duchy Originals Organic Ale and Duchy Originals Select Ale.
