Refresh is delighted to represent Innis & Gunn in the UK off trade
Innis & Gunn's 'Oak Aged Beer' is a flavour-packed brew, which has been designed to champion the burgeoning new premium beer sector, with an eye not just to the UK but to export markets as well.
Oak Aged Beer has been developed by Innis & Gunn's Managing Director, Dougal Sharp, the former head brewer at Edinburgh's Caledonian Brewery, in conjunction with Scottish independent family owned distiller William Grant & Sons Ltd. Dougal's father Russell Sharp, the founder of The Caledonian Brewery has also been involved, lending his vast brewing experience and his work on oak maturation in the whisky industry to the project.
Oak Aged Beer goes through a unique 77-day maturation process (ten times the national average for ales), which includes 30 days resting in lightly toasted American white oak barrels. After this, the beer is taken from the barrels and ageing continues for a further 47 days in a 'marrying tun', where the flavours infuse and mellow. This allows natural carbonation to take place, giving bottles of Oak Aged Beer a light effervescence similar to champagne.
