Wychwood Brewery Seasonal Cask Ale Programme 2004
“Alas, poor Yorick…”
(…He didn’t get to taste Wychwood Brewery’s February Seasonal beer)
The famed ‘Yorick’, a 4.3% abv brew from Oxfordshire-based Wychwood Brewery will be their Shakespearian-themed seasonal cask ale for February.
From the play that has it all: ghosts, murder, love, death, scandal, and madness; it's 'no potent poison', but a brew of ‘most excellent fancy’, big, bold and flavoursome enough to banish the last chills of winter, and 'cracks a noble heart'.
Head Brewer Jeremy Moss uses crystal malt and oats in the grist, with a flourish of Fuggles hops. The resulting beer is a powerful and aromatic brew with an alluring ruby colour and an assertive malty flavour.
Quoth Jeremy:
“Yorick is a gallant brew with pronounced malty flavours and wonderfully earthy Fuggles hops. A complex and warming beer for the last wintery days before Spring. A real mid-winter night’s dream!”
