CASK HOBGOBLIN EXCELS HIMS ELF
Hobgoblin, Wychwood brewery’s flagship brand, reports a rise in sales of over 230% for the June-August period 2004, against the same period in 2003.
The increase is nationwide and reflects the growing stature of the ‘deliciously dark’ brand, with its distinctive chocolate flavours and smooth, lingering finish.
The Hobgoblin recipe was tweaked in 2003 by Wychwood’s head brewer, Jeremy Moss, so as to unite the recipes for the cask and bottled versions, the cask Hobgoblin moving from 4.5% up to a fuller and more flavour-packed 5% abv.
Hobgoblin’s brand manager, Kate Blazey comments:
“The combination of the new recipe and the highly acclaimed ‘What’s the matter Lagerboy? Afraid you might taste something?’ advertising has obviously made a big impression in the trade and we have had a spate of new licensees choosing Hobgoblin over the last 6 months.”
“We are going to build that support over the Halloween period with a combination of national newspaper advertising, radio competitions with Fox FM, and regional press competitions in the north east, the Midlands and the South.”
“We are also sending out over 650 Hobgoblin Halloween packs to stockists challenging them to decorate their pubs for Halloween, with a top prize of £500 for the licensee and £500 for the charity of their choice.”
