Brakspear Bitter in a bottle
Brakspear Bitter has been slaking thirsts in pubs for decades, establishing a strong following for its moreish style and a reputation for delivering real depth of flavour at a very modest and easy drinking 3.4% abv.
And now the same beer is available in a 660ml bottle, sterile filled to protect all its subtle flavours and with a high impact label, mirroring its new draft beer pumpclip. The design, on a light blue background with plenty of shelf presence, heralds the return of Brakspear brewing to Oxfordshire in June 2004 and proudly proclaims its classic “Double Dropped” fermentation system, so beloved of Brakspear fans.
In the Spring of 2004, Wychwood Brewery in Witney was enlarged to accommodate the brewing of Brakspear beers. A key step was the creation of the separate “Double Drop” fermenting room for Brakspear beers, using the original vessels from the Henley Brewery. The move was enthusiastically endorsed by journalists and Brakspear enthusiasts and sales of draught beer are already nearly 30% ahead of last year’s figures.
Jeremy Moss, Wychwood’s Head Brewer commented: “I am thrilled that the complex flavours, which are the hallmark of Brakspear Bitter, have been preserved so well in this bottle. When I want a refreshing pint or two at home, this one will really hit the spot!”
Initially Refresh UK’s plans for this new bottle will be to gain listings in its Thames Valley and London heartland before offering the brand nationally.
