Singin’ in the rain with Brakspear’s Downpour
Seasonal Cask ale for July/August
Picture the scene, grey skies, blustery winds and a sea of umbrellas down the high street, it must be English Summertime! And, what better way to enjoy this blissful scene than with a pint of Brakspear’s Downpour and a selection of holiday brochures.
Downpour, at 4.5% abv, is Brakspear’s sun-coloured seasonal ale for July and August. It is brewed with an innovative blend of barley and wheat malts to which a healthy quantity of Worcestershire hops have been added to create a ripe, fruity ale.
Brewed by Wychwood’s Head Brewer, Jeremy Moss, the ale has a delicate fragrant floral aroma with a hint of spiciness. The full flavour has a touch of dryness on the finish and an undercurrent of citrus flavours.
Jeremy Moss comments:
“A warm front is headed up from the region of Slovenia bringing with it a seasonal rush of Styrian Golding’s hops, this will meet a cooler front of Worcestershire hops to produce a whirlwind of hoppy flavour. Barley and wheat malts ripened in the warm English sunshine will, come wind or shine, make this a brew to delight.”
